Principles of method if other than guideline:
An additional experiment was performed in which the consistency of the substance was determined by visual observation after samples had been placed at approx. -20°C and -80°C. The additional experiment is not a guideline study but was described in sufficient detail in the study report.

TGA EXPERIMENT (PRELIMINARY TEST)

Decrease of weight from 150°C upwards: 25% at 288°C and 70% at 374°C.

After the experiment, a light yellow soapy residue remained in the sample container and a soapy residue was observed on the lid of the sample container. The change of the colour indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the test item.

DSC EXPERIMENT 1

During cooling, no effects were observed. During heating an endothermic effect was observed between 0°C and 100°C followed by an endothermic effect starting at 200°C. The first endothermic effect was most likely obtained due to the evaporations of impurities. The second endothermic effect was probably obtained due to reaction and/or decomposition of the test item. After the experiment, a light yellow molten residue remained in the sample container. The change of the colour indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the test item.

DSC EXPERIMENT 2

To investigate the endothermic effect between 0°C and 100°C, Experiment 2 was stopped directly after this effect. After the experiment, the residue remained in the sample container was unchanged by colour. Based on this visual observation, it was concluded that the effect was probably obtained due to the evaporation of volatile components.

STORAGE IN FREEZER

After storage in a freezer (-20.8 ± 1.7°C) for 41 hours, the test item was observed to be a viscous liquid.

After storage in a freezer (-83.3 ± 1.9°C) for 41 hours, the test item was observed to be a very viscous liquid.

Conclusions:
The substance has no melting/freezing point down to -83.3°C.
Executive summary:

Differential Scanning Calorimetry was performed. The experiments were in accordance with EC A.1, OECD 102 and OPPTS 830.7200 (melting temperature) and on EC A.2, OECD TG 103 and OPPTS 830.722 (boiling temperature). GLP-study. There was no DSC effect due to melting/freezing of the liquid substance between 25°C and -90°C. An additional non-guideline experiment 'Storage in freezer' was therefore performed in which samples were placed at approximately -20°C and -80°C. As freezing was not observed in each of the experiments, it was concluded that the substance has no melting/freezing point at temperatures down to -83.3°C.

Boiling of the substance was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started (i.e. at 200°C).
