The vapour pressure of Bisamid was determined according to OECD 104
resp. EU A.4 using the effusion method (weight loss). Vapour pressure
was examined at nine different temperatures. Three temperatures could be
evaluated as they showed reproducible weight loss. For these
temperatures, 1/T was plotted against log (p).

The graph 1/T vs. log (P) shows a straight line with a correlation
coefficient of - 0.9912. For the test item Bisamid, the following vapour
pressures at 20 °C and at 25 °C were calculated from the regression

The vapour pressure of
1,3-bis[12-hydroxy-octadecamide-N-methylene]-benzene is assessed in a
guideline study according to EU Method A.4 using the static method. The
calculated vapour pressure
at 20 °C is 0.059 ± 0.005 Pa.
The vapour pressure of 12-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid, reaction products
with 1,3-benzenedimethanamine and hexamethylenediamine is assessed in a
guideline study according to EU Method A.4 using the effusion method
(vapour pressure balance). The vapour pressure of the substance at 25 °C
is 3.26 E-7 Pa.
The substance consists of multiple different constituents with
similar chemical structure:

The individual constituents and mixtures of similar structured amides
are considered suitable read-across substances. Experimental results
from guideline studies on read-across substances:

As expected for molecules with relatively high molecular weights
consisting of long alkyl chains the reported vapour pressures of the
read-across substances are low. The properties of the multi-constituent
substances is expected to be comparable because it consists of the same
or structurally similar molecules. The volatility is considered to be
very low and therefore the vapour pressure is negligible. The highest
value reported for the read-across substances (0.059 Pa at 20 °C) is
selected for chemical safety assessment. Further testing is not
