Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 109 (Density of Liquids and Solids)
Deviations:
not specified
Principles of method if other than guideline:
A given weight (precision 0.01 gram) of product is poured into a 250 ml flask
The volume occupied is read on graduations, and the bulk density is calculated.
The flask is then firmly held on a vibrating table (amplitude 2mm; frequency 50Hz) until the level/volume in flask has stabilised. The new volume occupied is read on graduations, and the tap density is calculated.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
pour and tap (for solids)
