Heating

During the cooling to -100 °C a small exothermic effect could be detected in the temperature range of -30 - 10 °C, which can be associated with the freezing of the test item. As the onset temperatures in both tests deviate by more than 0.5 K from their mean value of -16.57 °C, the test item has a freezing range from -18 °C to -15 °C.

During the subsequent heating phase a distinct endothermic effect was observed in the temperature range of -40 - 10 °C, which can be associated with the melting of the test item. As the onset temperatures in both tests do not deviate by more than 0.5 K from their mean value of -0.88 °C, this temperature can be used as melting point. The test item has a melting point of -1 °C.

Description of key information

Melting point: -1 °C at 1013 hPa (OECD 102, A. 1.)
Freezing range: -18 °C - -15 °C at 1013 hPa (OECD 102, A. 1.)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-1 °C

Additional information

The melting point of the substance was determined by using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) method.
