Additional information

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX and X, the toxicity testing on soil organisms does not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. The members of the hydrotrope category are not intended to be directly applied to soil and an indirect exposure to soil via sewage sludge transfer is unlikely since the substances are readily biodegradable. For a substance being considered as readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that it will be biodegraded within the STP process and as a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected. Therefore, no tests on terrestrial organisms are provided. For the purposes of the risk assessment, PNEC aqua are converted to PNEC soil using the equilibrium partitioning method.
