Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Ethylbenzene has high vapor pressure (952 Pa @ 20 C) and moderate water solubility (200 mg/L at 25 C). Based on these physical chemical properties, if ethylbenzene is released to water, the compound will partition to air. Once ethylbenzene is in the air compartment it will undergo photodegradation (indirect photolysis) with a half life in air of 2 days

.

Ethylbenzene  has low to moderate potential for adsorption to soil or sediment (predicted log Koc = 3.12)

Ethylbenzene is readily biodegradable. Upon introduction to the environment, the compound is expected to rapidly biodegrade.

Due to the low BCF value for ethylbenzene (predicted BCF of 110 L/kg), the bioaccumulation potential for this compound is low.
