Additional information

Assessment of hazards to the terrestrial compartment was based upon the most sensitive trophic level, selected by effect level.

Microorganisms (fungi) were selected as the most sensitive trophic level, although technically saphotrophic damage to this stage of organic material breakdown and cycling of nutrients would adversely impact an ecosystem.

Ben-Yephet et al, 1981, was selected as the key long-term value for the terrestrial compartment. 97% of the test organisms were eliminated at a concentration of 12.5µg/g of soil.
