Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Henry's Law constant was determined using a batch air stripping method. HLC values were measured for both of the (1-methylethyl)-1,1'-biphenyl isomers present in the test substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Henry's law constant (H) (in Pa m³/mol):
173.3

Additional information

Test substance consisted of two isomers of isopropylbiphenyl. For both isomers, HLC values could be determined. Measurements were carried out under ambient conditions. Henry's law constants of 3-isopropylbiphenyl and 4-isopropylbiphenyl were 0.07 and 0.096 (dimensionless), respectively. Conversion resulted in respective values of either 1.71 E-03 and 2.35 E-03 atm m³/mol or 173.3 and 238.1 Pa m³/mol. Result for 3-isopropylbiphenyl is taken as key value as this isomer is the main component in the Applicant´s product, isopropylbiphenyl (mixture of isomers).
