Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
EDTA-NiNa2 is produced and distributed only in an aqueous solution and not isolated. This solution consists of both EDTA-NiNa2 and EDTA-NiH2. The latter substance decomposes before melting. Based on the structural similarity and the fact that in the solution a mixture of EDTA-NiNa2 and EDTA-NiH2 are present the experimental study on EDTA-NiH2 this study is considered as reliable enough to state that EDTA-NiNa2 will decompose before melting.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Decomp. temp.:
>= 155.86 °C
Conclusions:
Based on the study results it can be stated that EDTA-NiNa2 decomposes above 155 °C before melting.

Description of key information

Based on the study results it can be stated that EDTA-NiNa2 decomposes above 155 °C before melting.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
155 °C
