The pure test item indicated no self-ignition at atmospheric pressure until the maximum test temperature of 420 °C.

In the investigation of self-ignition in the Grewer Oven for the pure test item a small endothermic process was detected at approximately 200 °C, which can be assigned to the melting of the test item. After this the temperature of the test item was permanent over the reference temperature (5 – 10 K) until the maximum temperature of 420 °C (415 °C reference). This effect is explained to the changed physical condition of the test item. After the measurement the test item in the basket was changed to bloated black flakes .For the test item in mixture with Kieselguhr an exothermic effect was observed at approximately 210 °C and 260 °C, which led to a maximum temperature of 525 °C.
