Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In the key study, the acute toxicity of the test material to Daphnia magna was determined in a 48 hour static test conducted in accordance with the OECD Guideline for Testing Chemicals, No. 202 under GLP conditions.

The nominal concentrations tested were 0.65, 1.1, 1.8, 3.0 and 5.0 mg/L, alongside a parallel control and a DMF solvent control.

Exposure of daphnids to 4-chloro-o-xylene resulted in a 48-hour median lethal concentration (LC50) of 2.01 mg/L (95 % confidence interval = 1.59 to 2.74 mg/L) and a 48hour median effective concentration (EC50) of 1.27 mg/L (95 % confidence interval = 1.01 to 1.59 mg/L). The 48-hour no observed effect concentration (NOEC) was 0.502 mg/L 4-chloro-o-xylene, the lowest tested concentration.
