First-aid measures

1. Description of first aid measures

First-aid measures general : Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell.

First-aid measures after inhalation : Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell.

First-aid measures after skin contact : Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Take off contaminated clothing. If skin irritation occurs:

Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse immediately and thoroughly, pulling the eyelids well away from the eye (15 minutes minimum). Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after ingestion : Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell. Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Drink plenty of water.

2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms/effects after inhalation : May cause respiratory irritation.

Symptoms/effects after skin contact : Irritation.

Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Eye irritation.

3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

1. Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray. Dry powder. Alcohol resistant foam. Carbon dioxide.

2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire: Toxic fumes may be released.

3. Advice for firefighters

Protection during firefighting : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment. As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure- demand MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Compressed air/oxygen apparatus. Decomposes on exposure to temperature rise: release of irritant gases/vapours.

Protective equipment : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment.

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up : Keep in suitable and closed containers for disposal. Soak up with inert absorbent material (for example sand, sawdust, a universal binder, silica gel). Vacuum or sweep up the material and place into a suitable disposal container.

Other information : Dispose of materials or solid residues at an authorized site

Handling and storage

1. Precautions for safe handling

Precautions for safe handling : Avoid breathing mist, vapours. Do not ingest. If swallowed then seek immediate medical assistance. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Wear personal protective equipment. Remove immediately contaminated clothing. Wash clothing before re-using. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Hygiene measures : Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Always wash hands after handling the product.

2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Storage conditions : Store in a dry place. Store in a closed container. Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep cool.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

Ensure good ventilation of the work station. Emergency safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure. Emergency eye wash fountains should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Hand protection: Protective gloves

Skin and body protection: Wear suitable protective clothing. Long sleeved protective clothing

Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Wear positive pressure air supplied respirator if required by safe entry procedures. Use of equipment and components tested and approved by NIOSH and CEN (EU).

Avoid release to the environment.

Waste treatment methods : Dispose of contents/container in accordance with licensed collector’s sorting instructions. Empty containers should be made available to local recyclers for disposal.
