RAC concludes on methanol restriction

The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) also finalises three draft opinions for authorisation and adopts 17 opinions on harmonised classification and labelling.

Helsinki, 9 December 2015 – RAC agreed on three draft opinions for authorisation applications for uses of 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC), sodium chromate and sodium dichromate.

Furthermore, the Committee discussed and proposed to revise the draft amendment to the RAC note "Application for Authorisation: Establishing a reference dose-response relationship for carcinogenicity of hexavalent chromium to include the intrinsic property "Toxic to reproduction" of the Cr(VI) compounds".

RAC also adopted an opinion on the restriction proposal on methanol. The committee supported Poland's proposal to restrict the concentration limits of methanol in windscreen washing fluids and denaturated ethanol.

Finally, RAC proposed 17 substances for harmonised classification and labelling.
