ECHA invites Industry Users of the QSAR Toolbox for a workshop in November
Media enquiries: ECHA Press
ECHA asks for expression of interest in participating in a workshop on the QSAR Toolbox organised by ECHA in Helsinki on 24 November 2011. The deadline for expressing interest to participate is 21 October 2011.
Helsinki, 12 October 2011 - The aim of the workshop is to learn how industry have so far used the QSAR Toolbox for preparing their registration dossiers and receive their feedback on its usability and their expectations for further development. This will assist ECHA in deciding, together with the OECD, on the future plans for the QSAR Toolbox. It will also enable the Agency to collect best practices and develop ad hoc support that will be shared with all users in advance of the next registration deadline of 2013.
The workshop is aimed at an audience ranging from experts to participants with hands-on experience in using the QSAR Toolbox for REACH purposes. A maximum of 30 participants is foreseen for this workshop and we will make every effort to have a representative audience from different industry sectors.
We would like to ask you to express your interest in participating to the workshop by filling in the webform (see below) no later than the 21 October 2011.
The QSAR Toolbox is an OECD software tool developed for filling data gaps in (eco)toxicity data needed for assessing the hazards of chemicals and for grouping chemicals into categories. It can also be used for the development of integrated testing strategies. Importantly, the REACH registrants can use the QSAR Toolbox as a tool to generate an alternative method to animal testing to fulfil their information requirements.
